Technical services programming in 2015

The Technical Services Division (TSD) will be offering several excellent programs this Spring at the North and Northeast OLC Chapter conferences. (Follow the link for details on the conferences.)

“It’s electric: publicizing your archival collections with the EAD FACTORy” will be offered at both the North and Northeast conferences.

The TSD will also offer updated versions of two programs on RDA that were well-received at OhioNet’s 2014 RDA program: “OMG it’s RDA: what Public Services need to know, without TMI” and “RDA without tears: One library’s implementation story,” as well as “Buy This, Weed That: Using Statistics to Make Decisions,” all at the Northeast Chapter conference.

We’d love to offer programming at the Ohio Library Council’s 2015 Convention & Expo (CAE), and there is still time to submit proposals! Contact one of the fine people on the TSD here, if you have an idea for a program or speaker, or  if you would like help submitting a proposal for something you’d like to present at the CAE.

The CAE accepts a wide variety of program formats: poster sessions, LIBChats (short “TED Talk” style presentations), hour-long presentations, panels, and “unprograms” (facilitated open discussions where participants share best practices etc.).  More details about the 2015 CAE are here.

We are always interested in sponsoring programming related to the TSD’s areas of interest, including acquisitions, collection management, cataloging, materials processing, and preservation. If you have an idea for a workshop, webinar, or other programming that might work better as a stand-alone event than as a program at a conference or the convention, let us know about that too!
